On June 12, the Fourth China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Hunan Province,was grandly opened in Changsha, Hunan Province. Themed “China and Africa Join Hands for Modernization,” the four-day expo attracted participants from 53 African countries, 11 international organizations, 27 domestic provinces,autonomous regions and municipalities, and over 4,700 enterprises, business associations, and financial institutions from China and Africa, with more than 30,000 people registering to attend and exhibit.

The China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo is a national-level platform for China and African countries to carry out pragmatic economic and trade cooperation. It has become a new mechanism for China-Africa economic and trade collaboration, a new platform for implementing the economic and trade initiatives of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation,and a new window for localities to deepen economic and trade ties with Africa.

As China’s largest economic center, Shanghai has actively supported the major national strategy of China-Africa cooperation, deepened high-level reform and opening-up, and promoted the upgrading of its position as an international trade center. In the areas of trade, investment, and engineering projects with Africa, Shanghai has fostered extensive exchanges and cooperation between localand African enterprises, achieving remarkable results.

Shanghai has participated in the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo for four consecutive sessions, setting upa joint exhibition zone for Shanghai enterprises each time. At this year’s Shanghai pavilion, a total of 23 companies were exhibiting, covering state-owned groups and private enterprises engaged in infrastructure, aviation manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, mining investment, logistics, house hold chemical products, food, and other sectors involved in investment and trade with Africa. Pengxing Mining, as an outstanding representative of private enterprises from Shanghai, participated in the expo.During the event, Pengxing Mining showcased the achievements of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation by exhibiting mining products from CAPM in South Africa and SMCO in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

 During the expo, a Shanghai delegation led by Liu Ping, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government and head of the delegation, along with officials from the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, visited the Shanghai Image Pavilion. They conducted an in-depth review of Pengxin Mining’s investments and business development in Africa, offering high praise for the company’s achievements.

 

Actively responding to the national Belt and Road Initiative, Pengxing Mining has adhered to a “going global” development strategy, focusing on the development and utilization of strategic mineral resources. The company has steadily advanced its core businesses in mineral exploration, mining, and smelting—primarily in gold, copper, and other non-ferrous metals. In South Africa and the DRC, Pengxing Mining has established industrial chains centered on the extraction, processing, and smelting of gold and copper. In 2024, the company achieved a breakthrough inits South African gold mine project, promoted stable production and efficiency improvements in its DRC project, built new models for its trading business,accelerated the expansion of its domestic and overseas industrial footprint,increased mineral resource reserves, and further enhanced its overall competitiveness.

Moving forward, Pengxing Mining will further implement the decisions and directives of the CPC Central Committee in a comprehensive and in-depth manner, striving for high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. The company will accelerate the implementation of the "Ten Major Partner ship Actions", leveraging its high-quality gold, copper, and cobalt production projects while continuously monitoring aseries of key mining ventures. Pengxin Mining will actively pursue major mergers and acquisitions (M&A) both nationally and internationally, aiming to develop more landmark projects with global influence.
